Your files never leave your device.

Removes Info dictionary metadata (title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer) from the PDF. The output file leaves no embedded identity traces.

Remove Metadata clears the PDF Info dictionary — title, author, subject, keywords, creator and producer — so the file no longer carries authoring identity in those fields. It runs locally with pdf-lib and downloads only the stripped PDF. XMP metadata streams are not removed, so this is not a complete sanitizer for every metadata container.

How it works

How to use Remove Metadata

  1. 1
Drop your PDF. Drag and drop a PDF, or choose one from your device.
  2. 2
Run Remove Metadata. pdf-lib clears the six Info dictionary fields locally in a Web Worker.
  3. 3
Download the stripped PDF. The cleaned PDF is offered as a download; the original stays untouched.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is all metadata removed?

The Info dictionary is cleared, which covers the fields most tools expose. XMP metadata streams are a separate container and are not removed by this tool. Verify sensitive files with a dedicated metadata inspector before sharing them.

Does this change the PDF content?

No. Pages, text and images are preserved. Only the Info dictionary fields are cleared.

Is the original file modified?

No. The tool produces a new PDF for download and leaves your original file untouched.

Can I remove metadata from a signed PDF?

You can, but modifying the document can invalidate an existing digital signature. Keep a signed copy if the signature must remain valid.
