Add Text to PDF stamps arbitrary text onto one page of a PDF. You choose the text (including line breaks), the 1-based page number, a nine-position anchor or absolute x/y coordinates, plus font size, weight, color and margin. pdf-lib writes the text into the page content inside a Web Worker, so the file never leaves your device.
How it works
How to use Add Text to PDF
- 1Drop your PDF. Drag and drop a PDF, or choose one from your device.
- 2Enter your text and placement. Type the text, choose the page, pick an anchor (or x/y), then set font size, weight, color and margin.
- 3Run Add Text to PDF. The text is drawn into the selected page's content stream locally with pdf-lib.
- 4Preview and download. Check the preview, then download the updated PDF.
Features
What this tool does
- Multi-line text with explicit line breaks
- Nine anchors or absolute PDF coordinates
- Font size, weight, color and margin controls
- Live preview before download
- No upload — the PDF is edited in your browser
Limitations
Things to know
- Uses the standard Helvetica font, so complex scripts and non-Latin glyphs may not render
- Text is placed on one page per run; run the tool again for additional pages
- No rich text, rotation or automatic wrapping beyond the line breaks you enter
- Modifying a digitally signed PDF can invalidate its existing signature
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can I add text to every page?
One run stamps one page. For repeating labels or headers, use Add Watermark (all pages) or run this tool once per page.
Why does my non-Latin text not appear?
The tool embeds the standard Helvetica font, which covers Latin characters. Complex scripts need a custom embedded font, which is not part of this tool.
Is the text editable after saving?
No. The text is written into the page content stream, so it becomes part of the page like printed text rather than an editable form field.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The edit happens in a Web Worker on your device. Neither the PDF nor the text is sent to a server.
